The week end of August 19 I attended Hempfest in Seattle. There were record crowds, over 200,000 people enjoying the music, the food and the marijuana. 200,000 peaceful people. In contrast, the bible thumpers carrying a sign 8 feet tall, proclaimed us all sinners. Marijuana users will go to hell and somehow Armageddon is our fault.
They were the only voice of dissension. To those folks, and to the thumpers that appear at our own Hempstalk 2006 let me give you a bible lesson.
Many people over the years, have done hours of research. There are dozens if not hundreds, of references from prestigious scientific and medical researchers that prove this God given plant is good for you. John 8:32 "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." So...this is the truth. I am using freely, reference work done by others. I am merely putting it into perspective.
Two bibles were used in this study, the authorized King James version, and the New American Standard version. Old and new testament verses are used to show continuity in God's treatment of Marijuana. The New Standard version: Genesis 1:29, God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you." King James says "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, and the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be meat."
Timothy 4: 1-4 New American Standard, "For everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude." King James: for every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving."
does genesis 1:29 apply today? Yes It reveals God's will for all seed-bearing plants. Marijuana is clearly a seed-bearing plant. This is so important that God put it in the very first chapter of the very first book of the bible. It is that important to God for you to understand the gifts we have been given. The bible speaks for itself. It clearly says that God created marijuana for our use and says terrible things about those who seek to command abstinence. Criminal sanctions command abstinence from plants which God has created. This is so wrong and so evil!! But we know George Bush is evil.
Biblically marijuana is a seed-bearing plant. Botanically marijuana is an herbaceous annual plant. (Annual...it keeps coming back!) Botanically and scripturally marijuana is an herb and a food. Humans can and have survived in robust health by eating marijuana seeds.
I repeat; Tim 4:4 "For everything created by God is good and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude." Now is you want to see grateful people, you will find them where marijuana has reduced pain vanquished a tumor, made depression disappear, or have just gather in happiness to SHARE each other's company." John 13:35 Jesus says it is OK to gather in large loving groups
Finally, Exodus, 30:21 is where God gave Moses the receipt for holy oil. The ingredients are olive oil, cinnamon, myrrh and cannabis. Nine pounds of cannabis flower in about 6 quarts of olive oil. CANNABIS IS HOLY. There is plenty of documentation if you are looking, and if you have an open mind. The truth is in the bible!
To be so blunt, everything in the bible that's god given, or from the earth is holy. One must be able to respect it for what it is. Yet, like everything else, those in power take control, and those with very little power abuse it. I think the Christians are bit too overprotective about this whole thing, but similar to myself, when an ex-lover was "sharing" company with a group of potheads, it is just doing more harm then good. People's interpretations of weed get confused, and yada yada. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it's medicinal purposes, but a drug is a drug, especially in the way that some people treat it.
Side Note: Cannabis is just one of the possible ingredients for the oil, which was brought up by Aryeh Kaplan to further bring up a debate of whether JC was stoned. Either way, it's interesting though.

When man with his greed takes control of anything, it will be warped eventually to suit his own needs. Give him the bible, he builds a church and asks for money.
